2000 MS Mother of the Year

This year the MS Society has chosen Helen DelBen to be their Mother of the Year.

Helen became involved in MS in 1972 when her daughter Cheryl was diagnosed with MS. Cheryl was only twenty-one and her daughter was only seven months old. At that time doctors knew very little about multiple sclerosis and research was just getting started. Helenšs family doctor was no different, he told there was nothing that could be done.

So Helen turned to the MS society for the information and help in the understanding the disease.

Helen has worked for the society since that time, doing anything she can for any fundraising effort that the society becomes involved with. She has worked bingo, sold tickets, worked Tag Days at the liquor store, and has been the Mall Captain for the Carnation Campaign for over fifteen years. In one weekend in April, Helen sold over 90 Dream Draw tickets by herself!

She realizes that importance of volunteering as a means of helping the society. Helen is a great lady, now just think what it would be like if we could clone her! All our fundraisers would be sell-outs! Helen, we thank you for the tireless effort in the fight against MS and would like to honour you as our MS Mother of the Year for 2000
